We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our clients team in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This role is essential to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving operational efficiency through detailed financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the construction industry and a passion for improving processes and providing actionable insights.


Responsibilities:

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements in alignment with established accounting standards.

• Ensure accuracy in job cost accounting, revenue recognition, and work-in-progress reporting.

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure financial integrity.

• Generate financial reports for internal leadership, external stakeholders, and auditors.

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections and vendor payments.

• Review and approve payment batches and vendor statements while optimizing workflows for invoice processing.

• Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights for cost control and profitability.

• Support project managers with detailed job cost analysis and financial performance reviews.

• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with regulatory filings, including payroll and sales taxes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or contracting industry.
• Proficiency in accrual accounting and job cost reporting.
• Familiarity with accounting systems and databases; experience with Vista by Viewpoint is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across diverse teams.
